Britain today welcomed the agreement reached for the cessation of hostilities between Hamas and Israel, expressing thanks to the efforts of the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi.
The foreign minister said William Hague, "I welcome this agreement, which was reached to end the hostilities in Gaza and southern Israel also call on the parties to abide by their commitments."
He added "I would also like to thank the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and the Egyptian government to the tireless efforts and leadership for reconciliation efforts, and thank also to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon on their utmost."
Haig pointed out that the cease-fire is a good step towards a lasting peace between the two sides.
The British minister said that the two sides to build on this agreement in pursuit to reach peace between the Palestinians and Israel.
"The United Kingdom will work immediately with the United States and the European Union and international partners and with Israel and the Palestinian Authority to reach an agreement to restore the peace process before it becomes a two-state solution impossible."
